Massive Volunteer Effort over Spring Break Brings Hope to Flood Victims

An estimated 10,000 local and visiting volunteers gained the attention of the media and the governor of Texas this month. Helpers of all ages accomplished record-setting results in hundreds of Harvey-damaged homes over spring break—from west Houston through our Hope Recovery Network to the bay area. Families appreciated the work on the interior and exterior of their homes the hope shared by the work teams. “We are witnessing the multiplier effect when every age and every denomination works together in disaster response,” shares Tommy Rosson, executive director of HOUSTON RESPONDS. “When we get all 20 of our networks running at full tilt, we could mobilize more churches to shorten our city’s recovery by years.”
